Atium has successfully completed a year-long pilot project targeting mercury removal from dental clinic wastewaters. Conducted across four Swedish dental clinics, the pilot showed great results, preventing over 10 million micrograms of dissolved mercury from entering sewage systems, equivalent to preventing the pollution of 10 million liters of water.
The dental industry faces significant challenges with mercury emissions, due to the limitations of current amalgam separators which fail to capture dissolved mercury. Our ion separator, developed from research at Chalmers University of Technology, effectively captures this dissolved mercury, significantly reducing emissions.
The pilot not only highlighted the high levels of dissolved mercury in dental wastewater, but also confirmed the reliability and longevity of our product, which performed without fail for full year across all four clinics. We’re extremely proud of these results and the positive impact.
We will be releasing a whitepaper showcasing these results further, stay tuned!
